Epic Weddings At The Blue Ridge Mountains Of Western North Carolina

Many people may not know this but Asheville is located near 8 state & national parks along with 200+ waterfalls, making it one of the fastest-growing locations for adventurous outdoor couples planning a destination wedding. Not only do the majestic waterfalls make for the perfect backdrop of a wildly romantic Asheville elopement, but the 15 wineries within 15 miles of the city also provide the perfect backdrop for any bride and groom wanting to have a refreshingly dizzy time. Because let’s be honest, every good wedding needs a little alcohol. With wineries, barn wedding venues, the iconic Blue Ridge mountains, and mind-blowing waterfalls surrounded by nature, it is easy to see why people choose Western North Carolina to get married. This is also the reason Ryan Horban made the “difficult” decision to expand his artistic, colorful style of capturing weddings to Asheville, North Carolina!

Top 5 Asheville Wedding Photographer FAQs

    1. What made you decide to become an Asheville wedding photographer?

When I began shooting weddings I spent the majority of my time in Southern California in the Los Angeles/OC/San Diego area. However, after shooting a handful of destination weddings I really feel in love with outdoor, adventurous couples who opted for ceremonies surrounded by nature over hotel ballrooms with exit signs above every door. That is what brought me to Asheville After seeing firsthand the gorgeous waterfalls and intimate wedding venues I knew this small-town vibe North Carolina city was a place to expand my services, and it would be easy for this Asheville wedding photographer to capture authentic moments.

    2. What is the best wedding venue in Asheville?

Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, the city of Asheville has so many natural settings that make it easy for a photographer to capture amazing photos. With Sam Knob, Mount Pisgah, and freaking waterfalls everywhere within an hour’s drive of Asheville, the western North Carolina city is the perfect location for a wedding. There are a lot of rad wedding venues in Asheville from Highland Brewing Company which provides that downtown, urban vibe to the North Carolina Arboretum that has beautiful colors everywhere. Personally, couples getting married in Asheville should be genuine to themselves and go with a wedding venue that speaks to them.  The reason is that Asheville barn wedding venues, modern city venues, and outdoor event spaces are all options for anyone getting married in Asheville. Brides and grooms should go with the wedding venue that speaks to their heart and then focus on keeping their bellies full of champagne and laughter as this Asheville wedding photographer captures you living the dream on your wedding day!

    3. Any tips about Asheville wedding photography?

One of the tips I give any couple planning a destination wedding is to really explore the area beforehand so you can get a good feel for the environment. Explore the historic mansions with gardens tour at Biltmore, walk the mountains-to-sea trail, explore the Pisgah National Forest in search of epic waterfalls, visit the Blue Ridge mountains, and just soak in everything the greater Asheville area has to offer. That way when you head to Western North Carolina for your wedding day you already know what you want for the backdrop of your photos. Also, if you plan on doing some light hiking please be mindful your wedding dress might get a little dirty and consider wearing appropriate footwear (no high-heel wedding shoes….unless you want to slip and die). But I promise even a slightly muddy wedding dress is worth it if it means we can explore waterfalls and the Blue Ridge Mountains  because the photos will be AMAZING and sooooo worth it!

    4. How would you describe your style and approach to Asheville wedding photography?

The best way to describe my Asheville wedding photography would be a little bit rad and a little bit pretty. At the same time, I really like to focus on the genuine emotion of the couple and really focus on capturing all the little moments-in-between to capture a more authentic, candid, and photojournalism feel. Colorful, candid photography that blends the traditional wedding portraiture with less posing and more good times. As your Asheville wedding photographer, my goal is to document your wedding day in a style that will have you and your tribe smiling for decades to come every time you check out your Asheville wedding photos. You want wedding photos with style and energy because you are awesome, creative, and unique. So let’s work together and make that magic happen!
