Avalon Hotel Wedding Palm Springs
The Avalon Hotel is one of the award-winning venues on my Palm Springs wedding venue list, and for good reason. Manicured gardens, a ceremony site backed by the San Jacinto mountains, and that particular Avalon light that makes every photo look effortless. This guide walks through the history, the actual event spaces, what it costs, and real wedding photos I’ve shot there. Let’s get into why the Avalon is worth a serious look for your Palm Springs wedding.

Historic Elegance: The Evolution of the Avalon Hotel
A short drive from Los Angeles, the Avalon has been a favorite escape for Hollywood since the golden age of the industry. Built in 1929 as the Estrella Motor Inn, the property hosted legendary figures like Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and Errol Flynn back in the day.
The property expanded through the 1960s and ’70s, then in the early 2000s The Kor Group brought in designer Kelly Wearstler to reimagine the space. Her signature mix of bold color, organic texture, and playful symmetry gave the property a fresh new look, and it was renamed Avalon Hotel under Proper Hospitality in 2015.
The Backdrop for Your Big Day
Today, the Avalon sits on Belardo Road in downtown Palm Springs with manicured gardens, poolside cabanas, and the San Jacinto mountains as a backdrop for your ceremony, reception, and everything in between. Whether you’re planning something intimate or a full-property takeover, the mix of old Hollywood history and updated design makes for a genuinely great setting.

Avalon Hotel Weddings: Event Spaces
The Avalon isn’t just a wedding venue, it’s a picturesque property with real history behind it. The bungalows are gorgeous, the service is genuinely top-shelf, and the mountain backdrop behind the ceremony site does a lot of heavy lifting for your photos. Here’s a breakdown of the main spaces couples use.
From the setting to the food, the Avalon offers a real range of spaces to make your wedding day feel exactly like you.

Avalon Hotel Wedding Cost
For 100 guests, expect a price range of roughly $33K-$41K at this venue. Compared to other Palm Springs venues, the Avalon stands out for its charm, its mountain backdrop, and the range of intimate, picturesque outdoor spaces to choose from.
When you book the Avalon, you’re not just picking a venue, you’re picking an experience. From the elegant Presidio Ballroom to the secluded Regency Pool, each space gives a different part of your celebration its own setting. Whether you’re hosting an engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or the wedding itself, there’s a fitting space here for it.
The staff make a real difference too. A dedicated wedding planner is with you at every step, from picking the right space to finalizing the menu, so your day unfolds the way you actually imagined it.
