Monkey Tree Hotel Wedding

Palm Springs has a dry heat…so the saying goes. Well I don’t care what style of heat it is because when you’re shooting a outdoor wedding in 100+ degree weather it’s hot as balls (that’s another saying). The only saving grace when the temperature gets into the triple digits in Palm Springs is that:

  1. People drink waaaaaay more booze
  2. The nights feel incredible
  3. There is a 50/50 chance that the bride and groom will end up in the pool

So when Beth and Chris’ May wedding in Palm Springs at the Monkey Tree Hotel rolled around one of the first things I checked was the weather. May is one of those weird months in Palm Springs because it can be really nice or feel like the sun is literally melting your face off. Thankfully, it was only 100, which sounds terrible on the surface but is far better than what Palm Springs could be (reference the melting face comment). Now throughout my communication with Beth she mentioned that Chris hates having his photo taken, which is something that could really be a challenge for a wedding photographer. However, I found him to be quite funny, and actually saw his wiener when he changed into his shorts because he left the door open. That was a real special moment that bonded us for life. Then again, the Monkey Tree Hotel used to be a male nudist hotel so I am confident that the walls throughout the property have seen far more interesting things. Which brings me to my other point and that is Beth and Chris’ wedding was the first time I ever photographed a wedding at the Monkey Tree Hotel! Super rad venue that you should totally check out if you are planning a wedding a Palm Springs!

Okay I’ve really jumped off topic for this Palm Springs wedding photography blog post so let me reel things in and say Beth and Chris were really awesome. Super fun people that loved having a good time. I think you will catch that vibe after looking at the wedding photos. Now let me stop blabbering about hot weather and accidental nude encounters so you can check out Beth and Chris in all their wedding glory at the Monkey Tree Hotel. Cheers!

My Favorite Moment From The Wedding

Picking my favorite moment from the wedding was easy because when a bride and groom jump into the pool that’s pretty much always going to come in first place. As a matter of fact, the whole last hour of the wedding was epic because pretty much every wedding guest jumped into the pool at some point! Everyone was splashing around in the water, singing out into the night sky and drinking endless amounts of booze. Yeah it was a really f***ing cool party.

Thank you again to Beth and Chris for allowing me to photograph your Palm Springs wedding! I had an absolute blast with you all! And another huge thank you to Kathy over at the Monkey Tree Hotel! You have a wonderful wedding venue, and I loved all the old Hollywood stories surrounding the Monkey Tree Hotel. Naturally, my favorite being that the venue was allegedly where Marilyn Monroe and JFK would get together and play nude twister!
