UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art

Getting married surrounded by contemporary art gives your photos a backdrop nothing else in the county can match. Heads up though: this museum moved to a brand new Costa Mesa building back in 2022, and in late 2025 UC Irvine acquired it outright and renamed it the UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art. Given how recent that change is, confirm directly with the museum whether private wedding rentals are still being offered under the new ownership before you get your heart set on it.

In Newport Beach, the Environmental Nature Center brings an eco-friendly, green-sanctuary feel that’s hard to find anywhere else nearby. Laguna Beach’s Seven Degrees pairs modern art with genuinely great ocean views. And Seacliff Country Club in Huntington Beach gives you sprawling lawns and a lake view that blends nature and a little luxury without trying too hard.

Newport Beach

The Environmental Nature Center is a genuine green sanctuary right in the middle of the city, great for a chic, earthy ceremony. The gardens and forest setting make for a photographer’s dream when it comes to post-ceremony portraits, and the architecture, big windows, and wildlife all give your photos something you won’t find at a hotel ballroom. If you want something more laid-back, Beachcomber Café at Crystal Cove puts you right on the sand for an informal ceremony with the ocean as your backdrop, and the California sun does most of the work for you.

Laguna Beach

Seven Degrees and La Casa del Camino are both worth a look here. Seven Degrees mixes modern art with genuinely great views and caps out at 150 guests, which makes it perfect for a cozy, unforgettable party, and it’s one of my favorite spots to shoot in Laguna Beach. La Casa del Camino brings Spanish charm and panoramic Pacific views instead, plus it’s a boutique waterfront hotel your guests can actually stay at, turning the wedding into a mini vacation.

Huntington Beach

Seacliff Country Club is a favorite among Huntington Beach photographers for a reason: green lawns, palm trees, and lake views that give you a lot to work with for a bigger reception with lots of guests. The lush gardens are great for family and bridal party portraits too. Also worth checking out is The Red Horse Barn at Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center, where nature meets equestrian charm for a more rustic, outdoor ceremony, especially if you’re planning your own floral arrangements and DIY details.

Kyle & Amanda: The Newport Beach Bride & Groom

So you’ve learned about some wedding venues in Newport Beach, seen some cool photography spots in nearby cities, and looked at photos from a wedding I shot. Now let me tell you a little about the couple whose photos you’ve been looking at. The bride is Amanda, the groom is Kyle.

Amanda and Kyle opted to skip an engagement session so they could save some cash toward matching samurai swords. That meant our first face-to-face meeting was on their wedding day, and since coverage was only 5 hours, I knew it was going to be a fast-moving one. Sort of like a typical wedding day, but sped way up. The shorter coverage time meant we missed some things, like the bride getting ready and the groomsmen waking up hungover and throwing on their tuxedos. Probably great shots, honestly, just nothing that would end up framed on the wall, so it’s fine.

We got the bridesmaids and groomsmen photos before the ceremony at a Newport Beach golf clubhouse. Amanda and Kyle left the ceremony in a vintage Mercedes, where we grabbed some portraits and family photos near a stand of olive trees before heading to Kyle’s grandpa’s house for the reception. There was dinner, dancing, drinking, and a whole lot of whiskey-shooting good times. Below are some of the photos from that day. Cheers.
