San Diego Engagement Session
The most important thing for any photographer is that they connect with the people they are photographing. The photographer must make a couple feel comfortable in order for them to act and behave like their true authentic selves. It sounds easy but it can be challenging at times because each person carries their own unique personality, insecurities, joy, and struggle. One of the things I have learned through my journey as a photographer is that during an engagement session people feel most like themselves at a) their favorite places and b) their home. So if you can convince a couple that their San Diego engagement photos should start at one of their favorite watering holes or even better, their home, you will most likely find success in capturing those raw and authentic interactions. This is why I was stoked when Courtney and Marcus were on board to start their San Diego engagement session at their apartment. Add in the fact that both these kids are attractive and reside on the 31st floor where their home overlooks downtown San Diego, and yeah…it was basically fishing with dynamite.
After rearranging most of Courtney and Marcus’ belongings, taking photographs in their home and generally kicking ass, we headed down toward Westfield Horton Plaza to mix in some of that local San Diego architecture + flavor. The weather was very cloudy so we didn’t get much warmth but the diffused light provided some good opportunities for incorporating architecture into the images. And on a personal note, I’ve never been the type of photographer who enjoys photos captured wide or far away from the subjects so it was sort of cool to mix up things. Well it’s getting late here and I’m about to watch Last Week Tonight so I will let you check out Courtney and Marcus’ engagement photos at Horton Plaza and other spots in San Diego, California. Cheers!
All of the above San Diego engagement photos were captured by Palm Springs Wedding Photographer Ryan Horban. Don’t steal these images. I have been using a shake weight and eating moderately healthy so I will find you and destroy you. If you want to use any of my photographs simply click on that contact tab and ask.
