San Diego Wedding Photographer
Best Wedding Photographers San Diego
Many people may not know this but San Diego was discovered by German settlers in the early 1900s, naming the lovely Southern California city after the private region of a whale. The Germans may have called San Diego “The Whale’s Vagina”, but many brides and grooms call it the place they are going to get married. The place they are going to hire a San Diego wedding photographer to document them and their kick ass Southern California destination wedding in all of its glory. With perfect weather all year round combined with city & ocean views to die for, Ryan Horban made the “difficult” decision to expand his relaxed, artistic, and colorful style of documenting weddings to San Diego! So who the f**k is Ryan Horban?!
Ryan Horban is an international wedding photographer based in Southern California who has photographed hundreds of modern, luxurious city weddings. His approach focuses on candid, authentic, un-posed moments that blend photojournalism and natural emotion. The goal is to capture intimate interactions that evoke real feelings such as when a bride sees her groom for the first time, or joyful moments like when the bridesmaids are all sipping on champagne in their robes. Ryan Horban’s San Diego wedding photography also documents all the clean lines and symmetry of a wedding ceremony site, candles, crystals, cascading floral runners, and other trendy wedding decor that epitomizes that modern flair commonly seen in many San Diego wedding photos. By incorporating the city landscape, chic decor, and personal interactions of a bride, groom and their guests in his San Diego wedding photography, Ryan Horban has developed a style that has made him one of the best San Diego wedding photographers according to online reviews. Seriously just go check out his Yelp reviews!
Want to learn more about Ryan Horban’s art or hire him to be your San Diego wedding photographer? Send him a text message at 951-704-9503 or say hello through his contact form to learn more about packages, his style, approach and more. The good news is he won’t speak to you in third person when you have a real person-to-person conversation, unless of course you’re into that sort of thing.
Top 5 San Diego Wedding Photographer FAQs
San Diego Wedding Photos
1. What made you decide to become a San Diego wedding photographer?
When I first got into the art industry I worked as a Palm Springs wedding photographer, but after nearly blacking out many times in the 115 degree desert weather I needed a change. As much as I enjoyed being sun-burnt, sweating through dress clothes, and working with couples who rarely wanted to touch each other because it was so damn hot outside, I knew that my photos would improve with some more consistent, cooler weather. Not to mention, the gorgeous city views and wedding venues provided that perfect backdrop of a modern, stylish ceremony that make it easy for a San Diego wedding photographer to capture authentic moments.
2. What is the best wedding venue in San Diego?
San Diego is really f**ing awesome because it has wedding venues that are perfect to host epic parties with that classic and modern feel, but at the same time super initiate beach ceremonies for those wanting something a little more personal and slow-paced. I always say couples should be genuine to themselves and choose a San Diego wedding venue that speaks to them. Nobody else but them. Choose the wedding decor and style that fits their personalities even if that is rustic, bohemian, or Star Wars themed. Just focus on keeping your champagne glass full of bubbly and belly full of laughter on your San Diego wedding day.
3. Any tips about San Diego wedding photography?
Probably the main tip would be to avoid the iconic Balboa Park on the weekends! As much as I love the area, downtown San Diego photography spots can be absolutely crazy on the weekends when traffic is a nightmare and people are everywhere. Therefore, if you don’t want a bunch of people in the background of your engagement or San Diego wedding photos the best thing to do is plan accordingly. Also it is not a bad idea to make time for travel because going 2 miles in downtown San Diego can take 20 minutes at certain times on the weekends. And the last thing a bride or groom want to feel on their wedding day is super rushed.
4. How would you describe your style and approach to San Diego wedding photography?
The best way to describe my San Diego wedding photography would be like two friends who ride majestic, translucent steeds, shooting flaming arrows across the bridge of Hemdale. For those confused by the Step Brothers reference let me clarify: my photography is a collection of in-the-moment, candid, authentic, and colorful photojournalism that mixes in traditional wedding portraiture of wedding details, family, and venue decor. My goal is to document a wedding day in a style that focuses on the emotional elements, human interactions, and most importantly good times. As your San Diego wedding photographer I want to capture your wedding day in a fashion that will have you, your family, and future kids+ grand kids smiling for decades to come when they look at your San Diego wedding photos! You are awesome and your wedding photos should show that!
5. I need an affordable San Diego wedding photographer. I might even elope in San Diego. Can you help with that?
As a person who has went through the wedding planning process I totally understand how tedious, long and frustrating it can be at times. My San Diego wedding photography packages start at $3,000, but for those seeking more affordable wedding photographers San Diego I still come offering good news! This is because I also offer associate photographer packages for more cost-effective wedding prices. So even if I can’t personally be the one documenting your epic San Diego wedding I can a least get you connected with an awesome San Diego wedding photographer who will capture all the awesomeness of your wedding.
For those looking to elope in San Diego, I also offer a number of elopement wedding packages designed for intimate day-of coverage. The goal is the same regardless of the wedding package, and that is to get authentic photos of you living your best life on your wedding day in San Diego.

Elopement Photographer San Diego
San Diego elopement beach wedding
There are a number of reasons why couples choose to elope in San Diego or plan an intimate beach wedding. First of all, a traditional wedding can be both expensive and stressful. Secondly, some couples simply do not want to deal with crazy family members, a million wedding details, and the many other headaches that can transpire from planning a wedding. Couples should always remember this is their wedding day, and if they want a simple ceremony on the beach with sand between their toes then f**k yeah! Do it! But it is still important to have those life-changing moments documented in a fun, artistic fashion so even if the wedding is an hour long it is still a good idea to invest in a San Diego wedding photographer.
Still not sure if you want to have your wedding in San Diego? Then maybe consider a desert wedding and hiring a Joshua Tree wedding photographer to document your boho, outdoor, or glamping-style destination wedding! Either way, shoot me a message and I would be happy to chat with you about your wedding ideas!
