Tumbleweed Sanctuary Garden & Labyrinth Wedding
Easily one of my favorite Calfornia desert wedding venues is Tumbleweed Sanctuary. Located near Joshua Tree, California, Tumbleweed Sanctuary is the perfect spot for couples planning a traditional 125-guest outdoor wedding, or the wildly romantic in need of an organic venue for their elopement. This is why I was so pumped when Melissa and Mark contacted me to photograph their intimate Tumbleweed Sanctuary Garden & Labyrinth wedding! Since they were eloping, they chose to have the wedding ceremony take place in the middle of the Labyrinth. This is where they exchanged vows and rings before we headed out to the garden area for photos in the desert area. Below are some of the Tumbleweed Sanctuary wedding photos and Joshua tree goodness.
Sanctuary
The perfect spot for creatives, the Sanctuary is essentially a blank canvas that allows brides, grooms, and their wedding design team to truly create something unique for their desert wedding reception. The furnishings have a vintage bohemian style that embodies the Mojave energy, but the best part is the space is completely air-conditioned which is great during those warm Summer nights.
Garden
If stunning desert landscape views and an outdoor wedding ceremony are what you want for your Joshua Tree wedding than look no further than the Garden area at Tumbleweed Sanctuary! Walk along the meditation path as you cross under iron arches that lead you to a lovely open garden that is decorated with indigenous desert plants and majestic Joshua trees. But be careful while walking through the Tumbleweed Sanctuary garden because of many of the plants are capable of hurting you. As a wedding photographer who has had many encounters with cacti, I can tell you desert plants can and will jack you up if you accidentally bump into them so be careful!
Labyrinth
The most important thing a couple can do on their wedding day is to stay in the moment. Very few things exemplify this sense of being in the present than a Labyrinth. An ancient symbol that represents wholeness, Labyrinth rocks are about our journey in life. As we move through a Labyrinth maze we focus intentionally on each step and the present moment. Many couples who elope at Tumbleweed Sanctuary choose to exchange their wedding vows in the center of the Labyrinth right next to some crystals. As the bride and groom walk enter then exit the Labyrinth they become mindful of their journey together through this human experience.
Tumbleweed Sanctuary Wedding Cost
Anyone planning an event or a Tumbleweed Sanctuary wedding can anticipate investing anywhere between $500.00- $1,000.00 an hour for use of the desert grounds. Pricing for use of the wedding venue fluctuates depending on use, time, and date.
Those interested in having a Tumbleweed Sanctuary wedding are required to put down a 50% non-refundable save-the-date deposit with the balance due 2 months before the date of the wedding.
