Destination Wedding At Avalon Hotel

Late last year I was lucky enough to capture Wes and Lauren’s Palm Springs engagement photos. We knocked back beers from Nicaragua, chatted about their Palm Springs wedding in March and took photos at Ace Hotel, the Parker, the desert and a bunch of other cool spots around Palm Canyon Drive. These Texans were nothing but awesome throughout the day and Lauren was even a trooper when I made her hike up a hill while she was wearing high heels just so I could get a couple of rad photographs around sunset. Needless to say, I was very much looking forward to their wedding at the Avalon Hotel. And last week that day had come.

The Avalon Hotel is really an awesome venue and this was my first time shooting the location. I loved how everything was right on property and easily accessible. There were a lot of little spots that would totally provide a good setting for photo opportunities, which is really what you want as a wedding photographer. That means you could shoot a wedding at the Avalon multiple times and give clients a totally different style of photos each time. This is something that is really important to me because every bride and groom should have unique photos that represent their style and attitude. Wes and Lauren’s Palm Springs wedding had everything a photographer could want but it also had everything a guest could want as well. By that, I mean temperatures in the low 80s, amazing food and of course an open bar that served delicious signature cocktails among other booze delights. We partied hard and the good times flocked like the sparrows of San Juan Capistrano. I am talking about a little place called Aspen….wait no…I mean Palm Springs.
